New Freedom is Becoming a "Craft-Brew Destination!
The Probst Team has always been bullish on New Freedom. There's little doubt that it's an area with a thoughtful growth plan centered on active living, good food, culture, history and easy living. In one of my earlier posts, I interviewed the owners of the Jackson House in Railroad and they confirmed that the Rail Trail corridor of New Freedom is earmarked by the state and county for smart growth--a type suited for the young as well as the retiree.

ALECRAFT BREWERY ON THE NCR--COMING THIS SPRING!
Anyone who's biked or hiked the Rail Trail above New Freedom has seen the building sitting abandoned for some years. Recently purchased by the owners of the AleCraft Brewery in Belair, Maryland, this new location will be a perfect year-round destination offering an assortment of craft beers, a joint-venture cafe, a coffee bar for early morning riders or commuters, and "gastropub fare" (means really, really good pub food).
"When they considered their options, York County stood out to AleCraft. Brad had spent years riding the Northern Central and York County Heritage Trail and had fallen in love with the area."

Luxury Lofts, Roof Gardens and Craft Brew? - in New Freedom?
Yes! Hard to believe, but it's true. To be designed by the prestigious Warehaus team, this complex will only further enhance New Freedom's burgeoning mix of old and new. We're thinking this will be situated near the former Lamotts Restaurant (remembered by many of us long-time Northern Maryland and Southern PA residents - best crab cakes ever!) This is truly an impressive venture for a once sleepy little railroad town, and courageous for its ability to move New Freedom solidly into the 21st century.
